4 heaping tablespoons Crisco shortening
2 cup self-rising flour
1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a medium bowl, cut the shortening into the flour until very well mixed and crumbly. Slowly stir in the buttermilk to form a soft dough. Roll out on a lightly floured board to 3/4-inch thickness, and cut with a small biscuit cutter. Place a biscuit on a spray-oil prepared baking pan, and bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes or until browned. Makes 12.
